Coaching Experience
-Begins his fourth year of his third stint on Montezuma Mesa. For the third consecutive year he will work with the wide receivers this season after coaching the Aztec running backs in 2005.

-Tutored a pair of 2008 NFL Draft picks in Aztec wideouts Chaz Schilens (Oakland Raiders) and Brett Swain (Green Bay Packers). Swain was a second team all-conference pick in 2007, finishing 30th nationally and second in the league in receiving yards per contest (79.6). Schilens ended his career with three straight 100-yard receiving games and ranked No. 1 in the Mountain West in 2007 in receiving yards in league outings (100.7 ypg.).

-Returned to SDSU in 2005, after a two-year stay on Mike Riley's staff at Oregon State, which saw the Beavers earn invitations to two straight postseason bowl games

-From 1994-96, McDaniel coached the special teams and secondary at SDSU, and in 2002, he was the receivers and special teams coach. That season Aztec wideouts J.R. Tolver and Kassim Osgood set NCAA single-season records for receptions and receiving yards by two teammates.

- Prior to 2002, McDaniel was on the staff at California, coaching the Golden Bear special teams and assisting with the defensive backs.

-Served as a coach and administrator with the Washington Redskins from 1998 to 2000. Was the Redskins special teams coach for three seasons under head coach Norv Turner.

-NFL background also includes a one-year stint as the wide receivers coach for the Phoenix Cardinals (1993) and a stop with the Philadelphia Eagles as a pro scout.

-Began his coaching career at Hartnell College in Salinas, Calif. before joining the San Diego Chargers in 1989 as assistant special teams coach. He remained with the Chargers until he returned to his alma mater, Cal Poly, as special teams and secondary coach in 1992.
