Defensive End
6-0, 200

Although he played just two seasons of football, Ikonne turned heads for the Trojans... Considered a diamond in the rough by the Aztec coaching staff... Originally from Nigeria, he picked up football late.

SDSU defensive coordinator Bob Elliott on Ikonne: "Eric Ikonne is a really interesting find for us. We found him late in the recruiting process. Adam Nyssen, our graduate assistant, found him on videotape. It just so happened to be a school that I had recruited from the last four years. We lucked out. This guy was completely under the radar - he had only played two years of football. He didn't play much his junior year and he came home as a senior on a team that didn't win very many games, so he got overlooked. I think we got a real winner here - he's fast. It says defensive end there, but he can play defensive end or outside linebacker or a lot of things, but we really like him. We think he's going to be a kid who will really develop over his career."

We would never put that kind of pressure on him, but we've got high expectations for him. He's a physical player who runs and really plays with a motor."

SDSU defensive coordinator Bob Elliott on Patterson: "Raymond Patterson may end up on defense or may end up on offense, either way he's an athlete. We'd love to have him on defense. He is very athletic and played a lot of different positions in high school. He played a little bit at quarterback, but I like him on the defensive side. He's got excellent ability and he's a smart player."

On defense, he had 65 tackles, including 44 solo stops... Added four interceptions, three fumble recoveries and nine PBUs... Also an award-winner in track... Also considered Colorado.

SDSU defensive coordinator Bob Elliott on Preston: "Andrew Preston is a guy who's interesting. This past summer, I worked with him at our camp in Kansas City. He was a safety then and now he's grown considerably. They moved him to linebacker, which fits right in with what we're looking for. He's a speed linebacker, probably an outside linebacker with safety skills, but he has a linebacker body, which we like. He's a smart kid and a great person."

Kelsey Sokoloski (Pronounced SOCK-uh-losk-EE)
Englewood, Colo. (Cherry Creek HS)
Quarterback
6-2, 175

The 95th-ranked quarterback nationally according to Scouts, Inc... Considered by many as the top quarterback prospect in Colorado... Is Cherry Creek's all-time passing leader... Second-team all-league his junior season and league honorable mention as a sophomore... Was a three-year starter at the outside linebacker position and a two-year starter at tight end... Signed with Cal Poly out of high school.

SDSU defensive coordinator Bob Elliott on Stanbra: "Brian is a guy who was recruited out of high school, went up to Cal Poly, and then transferred back down to Grossmont. He's a guy that when you look at him, has some growing to do as far as filling out, but he's advanced as a technician. The Grossmont coaches deserve a lot of credit for how they coach and teach because this guy's really technically advanced. Of course, that's what you want in a junior college player. We've got to get Brian's body weight up a little bit, but I think he can certainly do that. He's got the frame, is a great student and an excellent person too."

I believe that's what has been the trademark in this defense for awhile - speed. B.J. sure has that. He's a track runner in the spring, a 100-meter dash guy, and we really like his frame and his ability to run."
