San Diego State Names Jonathan Himebauch Offensive Line Coach
Feb. 8, 2006 SAN DIEGO - Former USC standout Jonathan Himebauch has been named an assistant football coach at San Diego State, Aztec head coach Chuck Long announced Tuesday. Himebauch will work with the offensive line and his hiring marks the completion of Long's coaching staff for his first season at SDSU. Himebauch most recently was the varsity head coach at Harvard-Westlake High School in North Hollywood, Calif., where he led the Wolverines to a 5-5 overall record in his only campaign in 2005. The team more than doubled its win total from 2004 (2-8) and claimed its first conference victory in three years. The La Verne, Calif., native has previous experience in the Mountain West Conference, as he spent one season at UNLV as the Rebels' offensive line coach in 2004, under his former collegiate coach John Robinson. Himebauch was also a graduate assistant coach on the offensive side of the ball with the Rebels from 2000-01, while obtaining his mater's degree in education. Himebauch has coached in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders (2003) and at the junior college level at Santa Barbara City College (2002). He began his career at his alma mater, Damien High School in 1998, and was an assistant football coach at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School in 1999. A Blue Chip All-American as a prep, Himebauch played his collegiate football at USC from 1993-97. After redshirting as a true freshman, he went on to start 23 games on the offensive line for the Trojans and served as team co-captain as a senior. He helped USC to a Pac-10 title and a trip to the Rose Bowl in 1995, and was honored for his achievements off the field with the team's Howard Jones Alumni (highest cumulative GPA) and Bob Chandler (leadership and integrity) Awards. After graduating from USC with a bachelor's degree in 1998, Himebauch played professionally with NFL Europe's Rhein Fire, where he was an all-league selection, the CFL's Toronto Argonauts and the XFL's champion Los Angeles Xtreme.
